Business law plays a vital role in regulating business practices in a country. It provides a mechanism for disputes resolutions and protects the public from unacceptable practices. The Law for Business Track equips you with the skills needed to face industry demands and the economic changes.

Consumer Law provides you an understanding of consumers’ rights whereas Labour Law covers employees’ legal rights and the law relating to industrial disputes. Finally, Law and Economics imparts key concepts of law and economics such as property rights and the economic functions of contracts.

Corporations need a good grasp on business law to compete in the market and therefore, staff with relevant legal knowledge in this area are crucial. Labour laws govern the relationship between employers and employees by regulating the terms of employement. This course comprises chapters relevant to labour law in Malaysia and the role of ILO (International Labour Organisation). We focus on major characteristics and general features of the Malaysian Labour Law and its development. You will also gain knowledge in the procedures and resolutions of industrial disputes and other legislation relevant to employee and employer in Malaysia.

These include an introduction to microeconomic reasoning, the Coase theorem, economics of property rights, economics of contract law, market failures, regulation of monopolies, externalities, public goods, asymmetric information, and moral hazards. We will focus on understanding the law by the economic concepts as well as assessing different legal approaches with the criterion of economic efficiency. Learn the advantages of using an economic approach to solving problems in the law.
